Yeah, okay, so it’s been a while. Quite a while; but here I am. I’ve long since finished the granny vest I was working on and it turned out really well.
So that’s one project down. AND I’ve just finished a set of slippers for a very old friend of mine. He loved them. And there’s nothing more gratifying that someone taking a look at your work and being overjoyed. It’s truly a wonderful feeling 🙂
Now I’m working on building an inventory for an art show in October. It’s only a small shin dig, but it’s been a lot of fun so far. I’m showcasing some cross stitch for the show so I’ve been having a ton of fun doing it. We’ll see how it goes. So if you find yourself in the area of Merchantville, NJ on October 5th, stop in and see my stuff. Who knows, maybe you’ll find something you love!
i got a strange request today. i was at an art showing at a little cafe in town and i met a lovely woman who wanted a crocheted vest. more specifically she wanted paul mccartney’s magic mystery tour vest. the way she described it sounded just like granny squares and those are my favorite things to do! i had to google the vest (thank God for google) and there was one that showed up prominently in the results. but it wasn’t granny square. so after some digging i finally found the right vest and even as i sit here and type this i’m looking at a print out of this thing. not something i would pick to wear, but to each their own. the great thing is that i can use up some of the wool i have lying around. awesome!
i’m going to be winging the pattern so hopefully the thing turns out okay. i’ll keep you guys up dated. happy crocheting!
Okay, I really got to get my act together when it comes to this blogging thing. But here it is, after 2:30 in the morning and I’m sitting here multitasking. Okay so I’m on facebook, watching dead space walkthroughs, crocheting and blogging. I get to stay in one spot so it’s all good to me.
I was busy during the holidays making gifts and taking some orders (not many) but I’m happy to say that I have gotten the opportunity to teach and spread my love of the crochet craft on to a few people. It’s been fun and quite a learning experience. I honestly think I’ve learned more than I’ve taught.
After the holidays I decided to take a break from crochet and get reacquainted with another love of mine; cross stitch. Counted cross stitch to be exact. So I did a few pieces and I’m now ready to throw myself back into my crochet. Especially since I found a pattern that I’m SUPER excited to do!
If you didn’t pick up on the earlier hint, I love video games. I have since I was a kid. While everyone else was out playing and staying thin, my fat butt was parked in front of an atari 2600. Or at least I wished it was. If I could have spent all my time on video games like these kids do today… well, I’d probably be a ton more antisocial than I’m now. Anyway, years ago, when the movie came out, I became very interested in silent hill. I never got a chance to play the first one, but I have played all of the others and I love them (4 is the scariest). Well I decided that the next thing that I would like to do is get one of those cross stitch pattern makers; you know, the ones where I can put in a picture of anything and it’ll turn it into a counted cross stitch pattern complete with color selection. I decided that the first pattern I would do would be Pyramid Head from the silent hill games. Why? Because who else would have one? NO ONE THAT’S WHO! And God knows I like to be different. So I was browsing through Google for a good picture; something really creepy and maybe with one of the nurses, and I came across an amigurami pattern for Pyramid Head. OMC! It’s is completely adorable and I can’t wait to actually do the thing. The only unfortunate part is I have to finish an order I’m working on.
So, yeah. I’ll have to post pictures once I’m finished. I can’t wait!
Oh, my! It’s been FOREVER since I last blogged. I really do suck at this 🙂 Well, for anyone who may actually read this, I apologize for being dull and lazy. For a long period of time I wasn’t really doing anything worth blogging about; but it seems like my artistic life has picked up a bit.
Right now I’m working on a blanket that an old friend of mine ordered from me. It’s coming along swimmingly, so I’m really pleased. I’m already about halfway done and I only started it last week. I love easy patterns.
This past weekend I donated a basket to the Eastern Stars for a basket auction. I had a dragon, some trivets, a lip balm key chain, sun catcher, and a cross in the basket. I was kind of disappointed that there weren’t tons of people gathered around my basket trying to get it, but there were a few tickets for it so that made me happy.
I’m up to my eyeballs w/ xmas. I have so many little things to make that I barely have time to do anything anymore. Slowly but surely I’m finishing w/ that stuff. Everything in that area is going great.
Last, but not least, I’ve taken up teaching a few classes and a local yarn shop. I’m teaching beginning crochet classes and some project oriented classes. It’s been a real joy sharing my craft w/ others. I feel like I’m actually being productive and sharing something that gives me great joy. It’s a really awesome feeling.
I’ve been rediscovering my love of cross stitch. For a long time I couldn’t find anything that was interesting enough for me to get into that particular area again. But thanks to Pinterest, I can find things other people are doing and rework it to fit my tastes and ideas. So it’s been a lot of fun.
Feast or famine, guys. Feast or famine.
If I don’t get around to it, I hope everyone has a great, safe, holiday.
It’s been a while since I last blogged and I’m sorry to inform you that not much is going on. I haven’t been working on much crochet; I tend to do more needlepoint during the summer months so I don’t have to work in bulky wool. But I have managed to get a couple things done.
First my sampler: then a set of pillow cases:
and I started a set of gloves and got one finished a while back. I’m working on the second one now.
I do want to tell you all that I closed my etsy store. Not one sale in a year and it was just becoming too expensive and (let’s face it) depressing to keep it going. But if you guys are ever interested in buying something, I’m sure we can work something out.
This fall I plan on starting Barbie dress number four. To be honest, I don’t know why I keep doing these things. I hate them. But this one is for me so it’s a little more exciting I think. We’ll see how things go. Wish me luck!
